The project

So City Hotel is a hotel in Paceville, St Julian’s, for travellers who want Malta’s nightlife on their doorstep. M7Alpha designed and built the So City website and hosts and maintains it, giving the hotel a site that matches its lively personality while keeping rooms, amenities and booking easy to find. This case study covers who the site is for, how it is put together and what other city hotels can borrow from it.

Who is So City Hotel for?

So City is for guests who choose a hotel for its location first: friends on a party holiday, groups, music lovers and travellers who want everything within walking distance. The website says so from its opening line, describing the hotel as a gateway to Paceville’s nightlife, and the design follows with bold, upper-case headings and an energetic tone of voice.

The About page balances that with the daytime side of the area, from shopping centres and cinemas to nearby beaches and historic sites. That way the hotel also makes sense to business travellers and visitors who want a lively base rather than a late night every night.

How does the room line-up help guests choose?

Each room type is described by the kind of guest it suits, not only by what is inside it.

Room Who it suits
Urban Room Guests who want a modern, comfortable room as a base for exploring the area.
Balcony Room Guests who prefer a courtyard view at the back of the hotel and a private outdoor space where smoking is allowed.
City Room Guests who want to face Paceville’s main road, a short walk from the clubs.
Quad Room Groups of friends travelling together.
Deluxe Room with Jacuzzi Guests who want their own outdoor hot tub.
Deluxe Suite with Jacuzzi Guests who want more space as well as a private outdoor hot tub.

The rooms appear on the homepage as well as on their own Rooms page, so a guest can compare the options early and narrow down their choice before thinking about dates.

Where do perks and offers fit in?

They have their own space, because perks are a big part of the reason to book this hotel directly. A Perks page explains the hotel’s partnership with Paceville nightclubs, which gives guests on qualifying stays free and fast-track entry during the peak summer months, with some promoted artist events excluded.

Seasonal offers, such as free breakfast when booking direct, sit on the homepage with a simple message: book directly with the hotel for exclusive extras and the best guaranteed rates. A section of guest reviews sits on the same page, so the offer and what past guests say about the hotel are read together.

How does the site handle the practical questions?

It answers them in short, scannable sections rather than long blocks of text.

  • Amenities: the rooftop pool and sun deck, open in the warmer months, with sunbeds that can be pre-booked through reception, and a continental breakfast prepared fresh each morning.
  • In the room: free Wi-Fi, individual climate control, a minibar, an in-room safe and TV.
  • Getting there and getting out: a Book a transfer link at the top of every page and an Excursions section for days out.
  • Keeping in touch: a blog for news and updates, and a contact form for questions about a booking.

Book Now sits in the main menu on every page, so guests can move from browsing to booking the moment they are ready.

Why does hosting and maintenance matter for a hotel like this?

Because a hotel website changes with the seasons. Offers come and go, the rooftop pool opens and closes, and perks run at certain times of year, so the site is updated far more often than a typical company website. With M7Alpha hosting and maintaining it, the hotel has one team responsible for keeping the site running, secure and up to date through busy and quiet months alike.

What can other city hotels learn from So City?

The main lesson is to know exactly who you are for and design every page around that guest.

  1. Say who the hotel is for in the first line of the homepage.
  2. Describe rooms by the guests they suit, not just their features.
  3. Give perks and direct-booking offers a clear, permanent place.
  4. Answer practical questions about the pool, breakfast and transfers before guests have to ask.
  5. Keep Book Now in the menu on every page and every device.

Frequently asked questions

Who designed the So City Hotel website?

M7Alpha Creative Studios, a web design, development and branding agency in Żurrieq, Malta, designed and built the So City Hotel website. M7Alpha also hosts and maintains the site.

Where is So City Hotel?

So City Hotel is in Paceville, St Julian’s, Malta, the area best known for the island’s nightlife. Nightclubs, bars, restaurants, shopping centres and beaches are all within walking distance.

How can a hotel website encourage direct bookings?

Keep a Book Now button in the menu on every page and give guests a clear reason to book direct, such as free breakfast, a best-rate promise or perks they cannot get elsewhere. Showing guest reviews close to the offers also helps guests decide.

Is a blog worth having on a hotel website?

It can be, if it is kept up to date. Posts about the local area, events and seasonal news give guests useful information and give search engines and AI assistants more to work with when people ask about where to stay.
