The project

VAI, also trading as Vai Drive, is a vehicle rental company in Malta that hires out cars, mini vans, a convertible, scooters, motorcycles and quadbikes for getting around Malta and Gozo. M7Alpha designed and built the VAI website, hosts and maintains it, and looks after the brand’s digital marketing and social media. This case study looks at how the site presents a mixed fleet, explains renting in three steps and speaks to visitors arriving on the islands.

What kind of rental company is VAI?

VAI is a straightforward rental company that competes on simplicity, flexibility and value rather than on an endless menu of vehicles and extras.

Its message is consistent across the site: understated vehicles without loud branding, clear pricing with the essentials included, rental periods that are easy to adjust, early cancellation without charges and lower rates for longer stays. The About page sums up the attitude in one line about hiring a car rather than a moving billboard. The website had to carry that calm, no-fuss personality while doing the practical job of turning interest into a rental request.

What did the website need to do?

The website needed to take a visitor, very often a tourist planning a trip, from first look to a rental request with as little effort as possible.

  • Show the whole fleet at a glance: from small automatic cars to scooters and quadbikes, on one page.
  • Explain the benefits in plain words: straightforward service, a varied fleet, flexible rentals and long-term discounts.
  • Make the process obvious: what happens after you choose a vehicle, and when you pay.
  • Help people choose: practical advice on which vehicle suits which kind of trip.
  • Be easy to reach: opening hours, phone numbers, email and address on the contact page and in the footer.

How does the site present a fleet this varied?

Each vehicle category has its own card showing the details renters actually compare: the type of vehicle, the gearbox and the number of seats.

The fleet runs from Economy and Compact cars through a convertible and two sizes of mini van to several scooters, a naked bike and a quadbike. Every card is marked “or similar”, which sets honest expectations, and the automatic or manual label saves a common phone call. The Our Fleet page then adds a rental guide that matches vehicles to the way people travel:

Vehicle Who the guide suggests it for
Economy and Compact cars Families and groups who want comfort, air conditioning and luggage space
Mini vans Larger groups travelling together
Scooters Solo travellers and couples on narrow streets and coastal roads
Motorcycles and quadbikes Riders who want a more adventurous way to explore

How does the website explain renting in three steps?

The homepage breaks the process into three short steps, so nobody has to guess what happens after they send a request.

First, choose a vehicle and set the pickup date and rental duration. Second, wait for confirmation by email. Third, collect the vehicle, pay and drive. Saying plainly that confirmation arrives in the inbox and that payment happens at collection answers two of the most common hesitations before they turn into questions.

How does the site speak to visitors arriving in Malta?

A large part of the homepage is written for travellers who have just landed and want to explore both islands at their own pace.

Short sections cover discovering Malta’s historic towns and Gozo’s landscapes, options for different kinds of traveller, vehicles ready for Malta’s weather and English-speaking support from booking to return. The fleet guide goes further, suggesting places to visit by vehicle type, such as Valletta, Mdina and a Gozo day trip by car, or Marsaxlokk and St Julian’s by scooter. This kind of practical, place-based content is what people look for when planning a trip, and what AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot and Perplexity draw on when someone asks how to get around Malta.

Where do digital marketing and hosting fit in?

Beyond the build, M7Alpha hosts and maintains the VAI website and manages the brand’s digital marketing and social media, so the site and the channels that send people to it are handled by one team.

For a rental business this saves time. Fleet changes, seasonal campaigns and social posts all point to a website that needs to be current and quick to load, and keeping hosting, updates and marketing together means fewer handovers when something changes. Frequently asked questions

Who designed the VAI website?

The VAI website was designed and built by M7Alpha Creative Studios, a web design, development and branding agency in Żurrieq, Malta. M7Alpha also hosts and maintains the site and manages VAI’s digital marketing and social media.

What vehicles can you rent from VAI?

According to its website, VAI rents Economy and Compact cars, a convertible, mini vans, several types of scooter, a naked bike and a quadbike for getting around Malta and Gozo. The fleet page shows the gearbox and number of seats for each.

What should a car rental website in Malta include?

A clear fleet page with vehicle type, gearbox and seats; a short explanation of how renting works and when you pay; what is included in the price; and opening hours and contact details. Practical guidance for visitors, such as which vehicle suits which trip, helps people decide.

Can one agency handle a rental company's website and social media?

Yes. When the same team builds the website and runs the social media and digital marketing, campaigns, fleet updates and the site stay in step. At M7Alpha all of this is done in-house.
