The project
Emilio Barber Shop is a men’s barbershop in Swatar, Birkirkara, offering haircuts, beard cuts, fades and hot towel treatments. M7Alpha Creative Studios created the barbershop’s brand identity and logo. Clients book their appointments through Fresha, and the shop is highly rated by the people who use it.
What did Emilio Barber Shop need?
Emilio Barber Shop needed an identity that felt as considered as the cuts themselves. Barbershops are chosen on trust and craft: clients want to know the person holding the scissors takes the work seriously, and a well-made brand is often the first sign of that.
A local barbershop also competes with several others within a short drive. A distinctive name and logo help the shop stay memorable, so that a client who had a good cut comes back, and recommends it by name.
Where does a barbershop brand need to work?
A barbershop’s identity has to work in far more places than the sign above the door. Clients meet the brand in many small moments:
- The shop itself, outside on the street and inside where clients sit and wait.
- The booking profile, where clients choose a service and a time on Fresha.
- Social media, where finished fades and beard work are shared and seen by friends.
- Maps and reviews, where people nearby compare barbers before choosing one.
Why should a barbershop logo work on a phone screen?
Because many clients will see it first as a small icon on their phone. On a booking app, a map listing or a social media profile, the logo may appear only a few millimetres wide, so it needs to stay clear and recognisable at that size.
That is why simple, confident marks tend to work best for barbers. Fine detail looks good on a large sign but can disappear on a screen, while a clear shape and a readable name hold up everywhere.
What can other barbers and salons learn?
The main lesson is to use the same name and the same logo everywhere a client might look. When the shop front, the booking profile, the social media accounts and the map listing all match, clients know they have found the right place.
This matters more now that people ask AI assistants for recommendations. In our own tests, when asked for the best businesses in Malta, ChatGPT opened its answers with Google Maps businesses ranked by review rating and review count. A barbershop with consistent details and strong reviews, like Emilio Barber Shop, is well placed to appear in those answers. Our guide on getting your business recommended by ChatGPT explains more.
