The project

The G Hotel by JL is a 3-star superior hotel on St George’s Road in St Julian’s, Malta, with 25 rooms over 10 floors, aimed at guests who want a no-frills stay with all the essentials. M7Alpha created the hotel’s brand and logo and designed and built its website, which we also host and maintain. This case study looks at how a small hotel can compete on clarity: honest descriptions, visible prices and plenty of help with the area around it.

What kind of hotel is The G Hotel by JL?

It is a value-focused hotel for business and leisure travellers who want a comfortable, central base rather than a resort. The hotel describes itself plainly as a no-frills stay that delivers all the essentials, and both the brand and the website keep to that promise.

Every room has an en-suite walk-in shower, air conditioning, a mini-fridge, tea and coffee facilities, free Wi-Fi and a balcony or a view, and rooms are available for short and long stays. The hotel sits between Malta’s business and entertainment centres, which is its biggest selling point.

How do the brand and website reflect a no-frills promise?

By staying simple and direct, because a value hotel loses trust the moment it over-promises. The brand needed to feel tidy and dependable rather than luxurious, with a name and mark that look as much at home on a booking confirmation as on the website.

The website follows the same approach. The menu is short and practical: Welcome, About Us, Location, Things to Do, Rooms, Information, Contact and Book a Room. The homepage covers what the hotel is, where it is and how to get in touch, and nothing is dressed up beyond what a guest will find on arrival.

Why does the location get so much space?

Because for a hotel like this, the location is the main reason to book. Guests choosing an affordable hotel in St Julian’s want to know what they can walk to, so the website answers that in detail.

Nearby place What the website tells guests
St George’s Bay A sandy beach within walking distance
Paceville Bars, cafés, restaurants, nightclubs and shops
Spinola Bay and Balluta Bay Sunset views, swimming and the seafront promenade
Portomaso The marina, business tower and shopping centre
Sliema About 2.5km away, with the ferry across to Valletta

The Location page goes further, with short guides to points of interest such as Spinola Palace and the old parish church, and practical notes about nearby supermarkets, banks, post offices and St Julian’s main bus terminal. A separate Things to Do page gives guests ideas for their stay.

This content does two jobs. It helps guests picture their stay, and it gives search engines and AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot and Perplexity clear, factual text to draw on when someone asks for a good-value hotel near Paceville or St George’s Bay. Our guide to getting your business recommended by ChatGPT explains why that matters.

How does the site handle rooms, prices and bookings?

Openly. The Rooms page lists each room type with its nightly rate and a clear list of what is included, and booking is handled by direct enquiry.

  • Room types: Twin, Double, King and King (Family) rooms, a Penthouse Suite and an accessible room.
  • What is included: each room type has its own amenity list, from espresso machines and Netflix to a terrace or sea view on the larger rooms.
  • Rate notes: the page explains which taxes are included, that prices change with season and demand, and the cost of adding breakfast or an extra bed.
  • Booking: the Book a Room page points guests to the hotel’s phone numbers and email, with a simple contact form for enquiries.

The About Us page also covers small corporate and private events, such as receptions, brunches and private buffet lunches for small groups, which adds a second reason for local businesses to get in touch.

What can other small hotels in Malta learn?

A small hotel rarely wins on facilities, so it should win on clarity. Say what kind of hotel you are in the first lines, publish your room types and what each includes, explain your prices honestly, and give the neighbourhood the attention guests give it when they decide where to stay.

Frequently asked questions

Who designed The G Hotel by JL website and brand?

M7Alpha Creative Studios, a web design, development and branding agency in Żurrieq, Malta, created the brand and logo for The G Hotel by JL and designed and built its website. M7Alpha also hosts and maintains the site.

Where is The G Hotel by JL?

The G Hotel by JL is on St George’s Road in St Julian’s, Malta, within walking distance of St George’s Bay and Paceville and about 2.5km from Sliema.

Should a small hotel publish its room prices on its website?

It often helps. Guests comparing value hotels want a quick idea of cost, and a clear rate with notes on taxes and seasonal changes builds trust. If prices change often, explain that rates vary with season and demand so guests know to confirm when they enquire.

What should a hotel location page include?

The nearest beaches, transport links and everyday services such as supermarkets and banks, plus the main sights and nightlife nearby, ideally with walking times or distances. Practical, specific detail is more useful to guests than general praise of the area.
