The project

Simblija Care Home is a care home for older people in Naxxar, Malta, and part of AX Care, the care business within the AX Group. M7Alpha designed and built the Simblija website, which explains the home’s care plans, accommodation, facilities and daily life to families weighing up care for someone they love. This case study looks at how the site is organised around those families and the decisions in front of them.

Who is a care home website really for?

It is written as much for families as for future residents. A son or daughter might be planning a long-term move for a parent, arranging care after an operation, or looking for a short break from caring at home, and each of them arrives with a different question.

That shaped the whole site. Instead of one long page about the home, Simblija’s website gives each situation its own route from the main menu, written in a calm, reassuring tone, with a Contact Us button always in the header.

How are the care plans organised?

The care plans are grouped by how long someone needs care and what kind of support they need, with a page for each.

Care plan Who it is for
Long-term care Independent and dependent residents looking for long-term residency, with tailor-made packages.
Dementia care Residents living with dementia, with measures and procedures in the home to keep them safe.
Post-op People recovering after an operation, with all-inclusive packages of hotel services and professional care.
Respite Short stays that give families a break, with round-the-clock care, daily activities and social events.
Palliative Short-term palliative care as part of the home’s short-term plans.

An overview page, Our Care Plans, ties these together. It explains the home’s person-centred approach and introduces specialist services in tissue viability and skin integrity, psychological wellbeing and counselling, so families can see the full picture before going into detail.

How does the site help families compare levels of support?

The long-term care page sets out three packages side by side: for independent, medium dependent and highly dependent residents. Each one lists exactly what is included, and the list grows as the level of support increases.

  • Every package: full board, access to the home’s core facilities, daily housekeeping, an electric height-adjustable bed, a buzzer for assistance, round-the-clock emergency nursing and care, security on site, daily activities and daily mass.
  • Medium dependent: adds help with washing, mobilisation and feeding, nursing assistance as required and daily monitoring of health parameters.
  • Highly dependent: adds specialised care such as toileting and catheter care, wound care, injections as needed, nutrition and hydration support and oxygen administration.

Itemised lists like these answer the practical questions families would otherwise have to phone about. They are also the kind of plain, factual content that AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot and Perplexity can quote accurately when someone asks what a care home in Malta includes.

What makes the site easier to read for older visitors?

Font size controls sit in the header, so anyone can enlarge the text with one click. Some visitors to a care home website are older themselves, or are reading about care on behalf of a parent who is, and larger text makes the information easier to take in. Short pages with clear titles help in the same way.

How does the website show life at Simblija, not just care?

A whole section, Life at Simblija, covers the residents, the dining experience and activities and active ageing, alongside separate pages for accommodation and facilities. Choosing a care home is as much about daily life as about clinical care, and families want to picture where a parent will eat, pray, relax and spend time with visitors.

The facilities page walks through the landscaped gardens and gazebo area, the Water Chapel with its mass times, the dining room, The Orchard restaurant a short walk away, the hydrotherapy pool at Revive and an underground car park linked to reception by lift. Revive, the physiotherapy and hydrotherapy clinic on the same premises, has its own link in the main menu, and a Latest News area shares stories and events from the home.

How does a family take the next step?

By asking a question or booking a private viewing. The contact page invites families to fill in a short form to ask anything or schedule a one-to-one visit, with the Naxxar address, email and phone number alongside. A simple “Where did you hear about us?” question on the form helps the home understand which channels bring in enquiries.

Frequently asked questions

Who designed the Simblija Care Home website?

M7Alpha Creative Studios, a web design, development and branding agency in Żurrieq, Malta, designed and built the website for Simblija Care Home, which is part of AX Care.

What types of care does Simblija Care Home offer?

Simblija offers long-term care for independent, medium dependent and highly dependent residents, dementia care, and short-term care for respite, post-operative and palliative clients. It is in Naxxar, Malta, with the Revive physiotherapy and hydrotherapy clinic on the same premises.

What should a care home website include?

A separate page for each type of care, a clear list of what each package includes, and information on accommodation, facilities, meals and activities. It should also offer an easy way to ask questions or book a viewing, and accessibility features such as larger text options for older visitors.

How is the Simblija website different from the AX Care website?

The AX Care website brings Simblija Care Home, Hilltop Gardens Retirement Village and Revive together under one brand. The Simblija website goes into detail on the care home itself: its care plans, what each package includes, daily life, accommodation and facilities.
